The Knot

Will you take this woman..
To bear her sadness and pains.
Do you promise to cover her..
If the sun burns or the sky rains.

Will you take this woman..
As an equal and a best friend..
Do you promise to stand by her..
And in thy stubbornness bend.

Will you take this woman..
To be loyal in day and night
Until you die… and if  beyond
Even in the dark or the light.

Do you take  this woman ..
Promising she’ll never ask of you..
Not  once …  Do you love me?
That one touch will say you do.

Do you take this woman  ...
And with her pull tight the knot.
Knowing if undone or ever cut ...
Love will die and forever be forgot.

Handfasting - The Irish Tie the Knot
Handfasting is an ancient Celtic custom in
which a man and woman came together at
the start of their marriage. Their hands,
or more accurately, their wrists were literally
tied together. This practice gave way to the
expression "tying the knot". One legend
believes the Celtic Knot  means eternal love
because it has no beginning and no end.
Thus the belief if the knot is undone in any way
 true love will die.
